Henri Matisee is one of the most influential painter of the 20th century that is known for his use of simple forms and vibrant colours. He helped in the new approach to art with the believe that artist must be guided with intuition and instinct.

Soon he returned back to Saint-Quentin and found a job as a clerk. He hated the job and considered it to be pointless. By 1890, something strike his life with an illness that would alter Matisee's world of art.

Being a late bloomer, he spent nearly the 80's in his bed as he was weakened by severe appendicitis. In order to keep him occupied during his recuperation, his mother gave him a box of paints which became one of his hobby.
The 20 year old suddenly found his passion in art despite of never having interest in painting and art. Its only when he discovered painting he felt that it was something he could think of nothing else. Even though he hated the lawyer job, he still work in the evening and signed up for early-morning art classes. He then moved to Paris to study art and eventually got an admission to it. His new career was disapproved by his father but he never stop send him allowance.
Talking about Matisse art work, his first painting was Woman Reading, and it was bought by the French president in 1895. Art was his life, and it took a decade for Matisse to study art.
Matisee and his fellow artist experimented with different techniques which distant them from the traditional 19th century art. At the exhibition held in 1905, the visitors were shocked at the bold strokes and intense colours used by him. They were dubbed by an art critic as les fauves which Mena "wild beast" in French. Since then the movement came up in 1905 known as Fauvism, and he was the leader of the movement.
One of the final and iconic Matisee art work was creating the decor for a Dominican chapel in Venice. He was doing the designing of the glass window right upto crucifixes on the priests' robes and the wall murals. He was working from his wheelchair and used the color- cutout technique. After brief illness, he died on November 3, 1954.
